Tankless Hot Water Heaters A great Investment

So after the whole whirlpool water heater fiasco and replacing multiple thermocouples I was fed up. I’d had enough of hot water heater repair. I decided to check into tankless hot water heaters. I am glad I did.

I read up on the energy savings the installation and of course the cost.

The energy savings part made a lot of sense, you see a traditional gas hot water heater constantly heats the water whether you are showering, sleeping or 100 miles away the heater keeps on heating and burning gas, or of course uses electric if you have an electric water heater. An on demand hot water heater or instant hot water heater however only heats the water when you call for it by turning on the faucet. Think of all the waste while you are away from home or are sleeping. Another source of loss for tank hot water heaters is up the flue, heat is lost up the flue and the tank is forced to reheat. The company I decided to buy my tankless hot water heater from claimed a savings of 15-20% on my gas bill I will admit I was skeptical but when I saw my monthly bill, well as they say the proof is in the pudding.

Before I decided to make an investment like this I wanted to know about installation. The people at Low Energy Systems
were extremely helpful; they outline what will be required for the install. The installation was slightly more work than a traditional gas hot water tank, not a problem for an intermediate handyman. If you would rather have it professionally installed they’ll even help you find an installer. On a side note I also helped my uncle install a tankless electric water heater at his house.

Now to the cost, tankless hot water heaters cost more than traditional hot water heaters, of course they do. I weighed the energy savings, as I said earlier the claimed savings proved to be true for me. The lifespan, which I’m told is twenty years, try getting that out of a traditional hot water heater. Then there was a big thing that offset the cost and helped me make my decision the tax credit. Check to be sure the tankless hot water heater you select is eligible it seems to be based on the efficiency of the unit. The overview page on the site lets you know which heaters are eligible. Instant hot water heaters are more efficient than traditional hot water heaters. That is good for you wallet as well as the environment.

After I did the research about instant hot water heaters I wanted to make sure I purchased the right one for me. I looked into Bosch tankless water heaters, Rinnai tankless and a few others. I ended up finding the answers I was looking for at Low Energy Systems
. They were very helpful on the selection process installation advice and any other questions I had.

Almost a year later I am completely satisfied with my choice the Paloma PH24M tankless hot water heater
. Included with the heater is the standard warranty and lifetime technical support to be honest I don’t think I’ll need it but it’s good to know it’s there.

So there you have it my take on tankless hot water heaters. I am very pleased with my on demand hot water heater. I am saving money the installation was easy and I am using less energy. What more can you ask for in a hot water heater.

If you are interested in a tankless hot water heater, I recommend Low Energy Systems
they have been in the business a long time and there staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.
